At home, the teacher role often switches within my family. I am responsible for translating documents to my parents and explaining procedures and concepts as I, myself, am learning them. I remember in ninth grade thinking how cool it’d be to be on yearbook. As an undergraduate, I was privileged to gain extensive research experience working in a research lab with Dr. Carol. I hope that if I can inspire the change that I want to make, I can leave a legacy that continues to influence and shape the landscape that follows me. After coming to the epiphany that if I died today, nothing would change except for the lives of those extremely close to me, I find myself unwilling to be just another Jane Doe.
